We started this blog to gain knowledge on raising our French bulldog Tink so we can give her the best life possible. But what many people including ourselves did not understand/acknowledge was that the type of life your Frenchie has could be determined before your puppy’s parents are even born. And half the battle to raising the perfect French bulldog is obtaining a french bulldog closest to the AKC standard.
We stirred up some bad BYB vs reputable breeder blood by calling ourselves “helping our breeders” by writing a couple post to help them sell Tink’s siblings. (We’re just really nice like that and wanted to help them out since they were so nice to us.) Come to find out that our breeders never even had to post the pennysaver listing in the first place. Through the reputation of their dogs’ good health and the breeder that artificially assimilated Tink’s parents, our breeders were able to get their dogs sold right away. Seems like our blog may have done more damage than help. The fact is, the only French bulldog bought through the internet was Tink, ours. So, I guess it was meant to be.
We acknowledge that we went about buying Tink in a very unrecommended way. We can justify why buying our French bulldog from our breeders was a great decision since we love her so much and they were so good to us however we also realize the controversy our actions have caused. WE DO NOT REGRET BUYING TINK. However, our next dog will for sure come from a reputable breeder or rescue network.
This is exactly why we started this blog. We are learning more about frenchies and dogs in general than we could have ever imagined.
Over the next few days, we will be deleting everything that makes this blog seem like it supports Puppy Mills and BYB’s. Because, WE DON’T. Believe us, we did not know that we were damaging the canine species when performing link exchanges with sites like puppy dog web and Oh! puppy dog directory (just to name a couple).
So, hopefully now we can get back to writing informative blogs and asking informative frenchie questions, so we can show everybody how awesome our little frenchie is doing. Trust us, we have many questions…
Honestly, We would like it if one of the our recent advisers could help us put together a much better breeder page than the one we have now. This blog is ranking on the first page of Google for terms like “frenchie puppies in riverside”, “california frenchie breeders”, etc. Even though we can’t provide queries with frenchies, we can provide them with information in helping them obtain a French bulldog the best way possible.

It is quite obvious that we have offended several people without any research or background being done. Mr. Han did say that our puppies had health defects and there was no way that we could be producing sound puppies to strengthen the breed, when in fact much research was done prior to deciding to have our first litter of puppies. We have visited several reputable breeders in the southern california area, along with many discussions with Dr. Butchko, a well know vet for the breed. We were advised that we had very sound dogs with great traits and it would be a sound decision if we decided to breed our dogs. With that being said, with a first litter, which unless I am way off base, most people start off with, we may have advertised wrong, or gone about it the wrong way as first timers, but other than the people, who by the way we have researched and can find no listings that support either Paul Han or C Matthews being an expert in the area of French Bulldogs, our dogs ended up being sold through word of mouth from the breeders that we visited, and currently have a waiting list for our next 2 litters if we so decide to continue. There is much controversy in many areas of raising and even showing dogs, and although we don’t have time to show our dogs, that doesn’t make our dogs any less than those dogs being shown. We have chosen not to put our dogs through those vigors and would prefer they enjoy a loving family with no stress of crowds and the extensive training and travel that go along with showing dogs. With that being said, although some of the things both Paul Han or C Matthews could be taken in by much better communication and not demanding that people see and do things their way. Such things as deposits, no advertising on websites etc are just a couple things that we have researched and have yet to find one reputable breeder that doesn’t do that. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and passion for the breed is what brought us to the breed, and had us research for two years before deciding to have our first litter. With that being said, we feel very comfortable in our skin and the soundness of our puppies and in no way are a puppy mill or a back yard breeder. The name was for my amusement, because of the viscious accusations that were being said by Mr. Han and C Matthews. In closing, I would just say, educate and offer your opinion, but don’t force or threaten if someone has a different opinion from yours. Take care and good luck to everyone in the future. This will be our last post on this site.
Thanks Mike, altough this is your last post (understandably so), I hope you still visit our site periodically to see updates on Tink. We never meant for this site site to be a battlefield and are very sorry for any trouble we have caused. Hopefully this issue is squashed and we can continue on with this site as a tribute to our little princess. She is doing so well and she brightens our lives every day. She is so well mannered and yet playful at the same time, we really think we have gotten the perfect puppy. We truly cannot express how thankful we are to have her in our lives. Thanks again for everything, you guys have been so great to us.
This subject is NOT over.
There’s simply no reason for anyone to be nasty to you. The mistakes you made were those of almost any well intentioned, if inexperienced, owners, and I can fully understand your supporting and attempting to help the people who brought you Tink, who you obviously adore.
Here’s the most important thing, however.
This is a BLOG. More so, it’s YOUR blog. You have the right to say whatever you want in it, without being threatened or intimidated. I might have the right to disagree with some of that, but I don’t have the right to try to censor you in any way. That’s how it works in a free society. Remember, if you get tired of the criticism, you also have the right to turn off ALL comments.
At any rate, I’m sorry for the anger you’ve faced, and glad that you’re changing some of your views on breeding and purchasing.
I’ve been breeding French Bulldogs for almost 20 years, and can tell you quite honestly that if I break even on a litter, it’s been a good experience. I usually I LOSE money - quite a bit. But I love breeding, I love genetics, and I accept this as the price I pay to enjoy this part of my life. I don’t expect to make money at it, and neither should anyone else (because Mother Nature will make sure to disappoint you if you do!).
I added you to our blogroll, and thanks for the links back to http://www.frenchbulldogz.org
Cheers,
