Chubs Sleeps In Our Bed
Every night about 20 minutes after I go to bed to lie down I hear little footsteps coming into my bedroom I look down and there’s Chubs patiently looking up at me waiting for me to pick him up and put him in bed. Usually James is still in the other room working so Chubs will take over James’ whole side of the bed and sprawl out like he is a little person. Sometimes he even props his head up on the pillow and falls asleep. It is quite possibly the cutest thing in the world.

Ours doesn’t wait to be picked up… he jumps up (and down) from the bed, which is not so good for his little self. I’ve bought him doggy stairs, placed a storage tote next to the bed for him, and he ignores them. Sigh.

We (accidentally) taught Tink how to jump on and off the couch, but now we are starting to regret it. She mastered it. I know it’s only time before Chubs will too. Luckily our bed is too high for both of them (for now).

I was just wondering how Chubs’ potty training is coming. My Frenchie boy Ollie is 15 weeks, and he is SO inconsistent! I didn’t crate train him because I was afraid he was going to hurt himself the way he screamed and freaked out about it. So, we use piddle pads when he has to be by himself in a gated (tiled, thank God!) area. Some days he’s perfect, others he chews the pad completely to shreds and just goes everywhere. What the heck?! I never let him wander around on the carpet, even when I’m there because he’ll pee every time the thought occurs to him rather than signaling in any way! I have to keep him on the couch, chair, bed, whatever, with me…because he seems to know better than to do anything there. Obviously, this is not going to work forever!
Do you let Chubs roam free? How does he signal when he needs to go?
Actually we are having the same dilema as you when it comes to potty training. Tink was really easy but for some reason Chubs just doesnt get it. We have litter pans outside on the balcony and everytime Chubs goes through the doggy door and out to the patio to pee in the litter box he gets a treat. The way he comes running through the door after going pee or poop you would think he knows that he needs to keep going outide in order to get praise and rewards, however far too often he still chooses to go in the house. We notice that he poops more in the house than pees but he has started to pee a lot on the mat in front of the doggy door as opposed to going outside. We have tried to crate train him as well and just like you stated he sounds like a totured animal and he tries so hard to get out that we are afraid of him hurting himself or awaking the neighbors with his yelps so we let him out. Chubs also chewed up the poty pads leaving a huge mess all around he house. I recommend a litter pan instead because it is not as messy and he tends to use it most of the time, but were still not having too much luck in the potty training area.
Oh yeah we do let him roam free in the house and unfortunately he has no signal when he has to go. We could be looking at him one moment thinking how cute he is and the next he is peeing right in front of our face with no remorse.
LOL on the peeing right in front of you…I’ve seen it too many times! It’s so frustrating that they can’t just tell us when they need to go! Well we’re starting Puppy Obedience Class tonight, so we’ll see…
